U.K. books, ebooks and magazines are listed on a popular Amazon auction site for the first time in a bid to boost sales.
The auction, called “Booklisting, The”, is an effort to increase awareness of the digital marketplace.
The bidding starts on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
GMT (11 a.m in London time) and will run through Thursday.
It will run until April 1, with each listing priced at £10 ($14).
“We’re hoping that this auction will really help increase book sales and get people to take their books home,” a spokeswoman for Booklisting told Reuters.
“It’s great for the people who want to make sure their books are safe before they go to the library and bookshop.”
Booklistings helps booksellers who are struggling to make a living, bookshops and publishers who want people to buy their books and we’re also really excited about the bookseller community as a whole.
“The auction will bring together the best of what’s available, bringing together the books that people love the most and also a number of books that are currently out of print.”
“It will be great for those who are looking for new and exciting reading materials,” she added.
In the UK, more than 100,000 books are listed in a single listing on the site.
